High school football...new thread....

With all the talk on the other thread about school size and matchups. What is region d going to look like with the 4 new teams coming in? Will any teams be allowed to drop to d1? Since Lee was a hardship exception and allowed to drop because of travel,I doubt any teams will drop under the Rye Cove rule. Just wondering what some others thought.

Va. High should be strong, lots of questions in the back field they will be young. Defense will be strong.

This is what I know about the CATS from a close friend of mine...

NO QUESTIONS AT ALL IN THE BACKFIELD FOR THE CATS!!!

People will see Damon Dock who will be a sopohmore next year. Damon is very shifty and has very good speed. I hear his vision is outstanding!
My buddy thinks with his vision and speed he will be better then any back that has come out of VHS in the past few years.
Damon is benching 215 and squatting 335 right now as a freshman!

Anthony Jones a will be a Junior, he is benching about 235 and squats 365 right now as a sophmore! Anthony started every game from the Gate City game onward as a Cornerback this past season. I dont think he played much on the offensive side of the ball last season. The Gate City game was his first start I hear and he was the kid that had the INT to seal that win.

People will see Shaka Andrews (will be a junior) playing at Fullback. Shaka is benching 260 and squating 405 as a sopohmore.

Randy White will see some action back there as well. Just as he did every now and then this past year when needed.

They just have to stay healthy!

At QB for Cats it could be 1 of 3 kids under center. Anthony Jones, Daniel Woods, or Robbie Stout.

Word is the entire defense will be back with exception of 2-3 spots that have to be filled. That includes the two kids that were booted from the team after the Abingdon game.

Va High and GC will, IMO, be fightin it out for second. I don't see anyone in the new district that has anything for LEBANON. Not sayin there are no good teams, I just expect Lebanon to win the CMD the 1st year.

Lebanon has and always will have a deep talent pool. Combine that with their Tradition and it'll carry them. I never said Va High wasn't any good. But Lebanon didn't lose anything they can't replace. They were fairly young last year. If i had to guess i'd say the CMD turns out as:
1-Lebanon
2-VaHigh
3-GC
4-Lee
5-JBS

Damon Dock is the real deal, he has incredible speed and is hard to bring down. I have watched Damon since he was in the third grade run at will up and down the field,if he gets the corner on you watch out! He may be the fastest back in SWVA in sometime and is a good kid. Strong class of freshmen coming up from 8th grade to add depth at QB, O&D line and linebackers. Va. High may have the best linebackers in SWVA, and their secondary will be scary fast. The real question will be at QB, of each that you mentioned they are all great athletes but no experience. With that QB position stepping up I see Va. High winning the district.

Yea, I think Damon ran an 11.3 or 4 in the 100 meters as an 8th grader!

Haysi and Clintwood will be less than half of Va Highs size and MAY drop via the RC rule if the RC rule can be used with Lee and there specal case that Honaker and Coeburn COULD possable drop as well.

That being said the RC rule IS NOT an automatic drop all it does is allow the affected team to apeal there Div placement so far it has never been denied but it could be at any time

If Clintwood, Haysi, and Honaker drop to div. 1, I would expect one of em to win the redion d championship. I know Appy and burton are there, but those three ain't exactly Hurley, Ervinton or Castlewood. If it happens the road to the Div. 1 Region D crown just became alot steeper.
